On August 11, 2009, a group of over 100 HACU interns were briefed by the following White House officials:

 

Cecilia Munoz, director of intergovernmental affairs

 

Adolfo Carrion, director of urban affairs

 

Moe Vela, director of administration for Vice President Joe Biden

 

Michael Camunez, Special Assistant to the President, Presidential Personnel

 

Nancy Sutley, Director, White House Office of Environmental Quality

 

Cynthia Hogan, Chief Counsel to the Vice President, spearheaded Sonia Sotomayor’s nomination process

 

Frank DiGiammarino, Deputy Coordinator for Recovery Implementation, currently leading implementation of TARP.

 

The meeting was hosted by Mr. Moises Vela, director of administration for Vice President Joe Biden.  Featured speakers shared with the interns about their work, personal journey and background, and urged them to pursue their dreams and continue aiming for the highest goals and give back to the Hispanic community.
